BACO Grants are given to

Serving prisoners

All grant applications received at Support Service meetings are sent to the BACO Grants Secretary with recommendations. They are processed and approved by the Committee.

No grant cheques are made out to individuals. Cheques are either made out to HMPS and go into a Holding Account in the prisoners’ name until an order is placed in accordance with the BACO covering letter, or they are made out to organisations such as the DVLA, DSA, ConstructionSkills, IPS & CitizenCard.

Ex-offenders

All grant applications received by the BACO Grants Secretary are processed and approved by the Committee.

No grant cheques are made out to individuals.  Cheques are either made out to the Probation Service and are expended under the supervision of the Probation Service in accordance with the BACO covering letter, or they are made out to organisations such as the DVLA, DSA, ConstructionSkills, IPS & CitizenCard.

BACO believes these grants:

Help to prevent re-offending

Help to restore a sense of self-worth to a serving prisoner or ex-offender

Help an ex-offender back into employment

Can hold an offender’s family together at a moment of crisis
